The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program is an economic immigration program for skilled foreign immigrants looking to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

Applicants should meet specific criteria, which include having a job or job offer to apply for the following program.

Key Program Highlights

  • The Newfoundland and Labrador PNP nominates all the eligible applicants to IRCC for permanent residency under one of the following three categories: Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Express Entry Skilled Worker.

  • Applicants should meet specific criteria such as having a job or job offer, establishing economy, and the intent to reside in the following province to be nominated for permanent residency. 

  • The express Entry, skilled worker category, assists candidates in fast-tracking applications for permanent residency. The candidate will get 600 points in the Express Entry pool if nominated.

Different streams of NLNP

  • Express Entry Skilled Worker

Skilled workers having NOC Skill Level 0, A or B occupations may be eligible to apply for the Express Entry Skilled Worker stream of NLPNP.

  • Skilled Worker

The skilled worker stream of NLNP has a guaranteed job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer and can apply for provincial nomination. 

The applicant needs to have a specialized skill set that meets the employer’s requirements so that they can receive a full-time job offer.

  • International Graduate

The Graduates from eligible post-secondary institutions who tend to choose to remain in Canada on a Post-Graduate Work Permit can apply for the NLNP International Graduate program. 

The Graduates should either be currently employed or should have received a job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer that relates to the field of study that they are doing. 

  • International Entrepreneur Category

The following category is designed for foreign nationals with experience owning and managing businesses who want to invest in purchasing and managing a business in Newfoundland & Labrador. Further, applicants must have business management experience and a significant net worth.

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Category

This category is designed for foreign nationals who have graduated from a post-secondary program of at least two years in Newfoundland & Labrador and who tend to have at least one year of experience in managing & owning a business in the province.

Eligibility for This Program

You need a full-time job or job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.

  • The applicant needs to be between 21 to 59 years old.

  • The applicant should have the intention to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.

  • The applicant needs to have sufficient settlement funds.

  • Language proficiency is a must

  • Applicants who are In-Canada Refugee Claimants can only apply for PNP or AIPP from outside Canada.

  • If the applicant has an ownership stake in a particular business in which they are employed, their share of ownership cannot exceed 10%.

  • You must have a Canadian post-secondary degree, diploma, or Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

  • Proof of eligibility for the provincial licensure or certification to work in regulated professions, e.g., physician, engineer, nurse, etc. 

  • To be accepted into IRCC’s Express Entry pool, you need to have a valid Express Entry key 

  • You need to Score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 on the PNP point assessment grid 

  • You need to have an IRCC Post- Graduation work permit
