With family Sponsorship, Canadian citizens can sponsor their family members to live alongside them in Canada and become Canadian permanent residents.
Family reunification is considered one of the three pillars of the Canadian immigration program through which both recent immigrants and long-established Canadians can live alongside members of their families.
Who Can Sponsor?
You can sponsor their family member in Canada if you are:
At least 18 years old
Be a permanent resident, a Canadian citizen living or intending to live in Canada.
You should not be receiving any kind of social assistance other than for disability
You should be able to provide the basic requirements of the person-sponsored
Who Can Be Sponsored?
The Family Class consists of three categories of sponsorship:
Common-law, Spousal, or Conjugal Partner Sponsorship
Grandparents, Parents, and Relative Sponsorship
Children, as well as other dependents
